Advancing Women in the Law – An Interview on the Value of Sponsorship

This article is for informational purposes only. It is not intended to be used in place of professional or legal advice in any way. Lawyers, law students, judges, and other legal professionals in Massachusetts can find more on scheduling a Free & Confidential consultation with a law practice advisor here.

In a recent book published by Attorney at Work, Sponsoring Women: What Men Need to Know, author Ida Abbott discusses the importance of sponsorship to the advance of women’s careers. By focusing on an audience of men, Ida provides a rare and needed perspective on how men can help advance women leaders in the law. I had the opportunity to interview Ida for our blog, and to chat specifically about how her ideas apply to solo and small firm attorneys. In the interview, Ida provides advice to both men and women to effectively build and utilize mentorship and sponsorship relationships to help women attorneys achieve success in their careers. That interview is available for listening, here.
